Day 1 March 23, 2020

Day One of Quarantine School

March 23, 2020

I started this blog last week, and some of you were able to check it out, but because I couldn't get your packets or computers to you before Monday, I decided to change last week's posts to this week. Like starting over.

So...today March 23, 2020, I just want you look over all your information in the packet that was sent home and try to login to the different programs.

Once you have done that, read for a bit and relax.

It's going to take awhile to get used to everything, and I'm adjusting, just like you. We will get to the hard stuff soon.

As you are going through the blog, be careful to look at the date of the post. Sometimes they can get mixed up. For tomorrow, look for day two.

Love you all!!

Day 5 March 27, 2020

Day 5

It's a little crazy to think that we are all a part of something big in history. Years from now...when I'm still teaching 4th grade. I will tell them about how we all got through the days in quarantine from COVID-19. The neat thing about all this digital communication is that it will be here forever. So when I'm teaching future students about it, I can pull up this blog and show them what it was like.

Again I am posting the daily schedule just to help you get into a routine.

I know that things are crazy right now and stressful, so just remember to do what you can each day. The most important thing is that you are healthy and helping your families. We are all in this together.

Daily Schedule

30 Minutes on Moby Max Math
15 Minutes Moby Max Math Fluency
30 Minutes on Moby Max Reading
Read 3 Steps (1 can be on Epic)
Weekly Writing Assignment - These will be posted on the blog and teams, but will be submitted through teams. I will post them on Friday and it will be due the following Friday.
Extras - Prodigy, AR quizzes, Epic, Social Studies Weekly

I was really bummed I had to miss out on such a fun field trip the fort a few weeks back, but Mrs. Hoff sent me some neat pictures. Another great place to learn about Colorado History is the Colorado History Museum. Although museums are closed right now, their website has some really neat virtual exhibits. As we get further into online schooling, I might assign some specific exhibits to visit, but for now I want you to just explore. Think of it as a Friday field trip from home. Enjoy!!

Here is how our family is surviving having to stay home. We made a camper out of a fish tank box. :-)

Today's Comment

What was your favorite thing about your field trip to the fort? If you have any pictures that you can share, post them in the comments. I would love to see them!!

I'm going to leave the daily requirements again, just you can start getting familiar with what to do each day.

Extra Fun Stuff
Mrs. Hoff told me all about your fun podcasts you have been listening to. Here is the link for you to listen at home:

If you want to start where you guys left off, scroll way down on the page to podcast #77.

Also, with today being rainy and cold, it's going to be hard to get outside and get some exercise. Here is the link to a fun Cosmic Kids Yoga Mine-craft episode. Enjoy!

Comment Topic

In the comment box below tell me about something that has been a bit scary about this whole situation? Sometimes talking about things that scare us and getting it out, can help us feel better about it in the long run.

Today's Comment Question: What has been the best thing about being in quarantine, and what has been the worst?

My favorite has been having even more time with my kids, and being able to talk to all of you online. The worst part has not been able to see my grandma.

Day 2 March 24, 2020

March 24, 2020

School has been officially closed for seven days now. All this craziness might seem overwhelming for you, but someday you can look back on COVID-19 and remember how you survived the days in quarantine.

Your first writing assignment is posted under Teams. Please go check it out and get it turned in before Friday!

I know I'm not supposed to be back to school until April 8th, but due to the circumstances, I figured this would be a great job to reconnect with all of you before then. On this first blog entry I am going to list all the different ways and websites that you can connect to online learning with. The days to follow I will leave little activities and challenges for you, in addition to your expected school work. You can leave comments on each blog post of how your day went. I can't wait for all of us to stay connected!!

All the websites below require logins or codes. If you do not have a login information email me directly and I will get it to you as soon as I can. I encourage you to sign into Moby Max first and do the placement test, then you can start earning game time. Your login for Moby Max is your firsrt name and your lunch number and your password is your lunch number.

Websites For Learning

Seesaw - The first thing you should do is sign up for Seesaw. This is a great app that keeps Mrs. Hoff and myself in contact with you and your family. When you picked up your computer there were directions on how to sign up for Seesaw, if you still need those directions, please email me at bcorliss@pvre7.org and I will get them to you.

For today, I want you to comment on what book you are going to read first during this break. For me, I'm reading a suspense book that is about to be a movie called The Woman in the Window. I can't wait to hear what you're reading.
